When is my office computer going to be upgraded?

Please check the  2013 Windows Upgrade Schedule.

I will not be in the office during the upgrade. What should I do?

Not to worry. As long as you have followed and completed the 2013 Windows Upgrade Instructions, OTM staff will power on the computer in your office and do our part. When you return, your computer will already be upgraded and ready for use.

I have a University issued laptop. Should I do anything different?

The upgrade steps are the same as everyone else. However, on the day of the upgrade please make sure you connect your laptop to the university network via the blue ethernet cable. Once connected, follow the Office 2010 Upgrade Steps.

I have a University issued laptop, but I won’t be on campus during my scheduled upgrade slot.  What do I need to do?

The upgrade system is setup to detect if your laptop has been upgraded.  The next time you are on campus and connected to the network, the upgrade will automatically run after you login.  The process should take about 30 minutes.

Will the upgrade disrupt my work?

No. The Windows upgrade requires 15-20 minutes to complete when you start up your office computer on the day of the upgrade. Services such as Email, Blackboard, My Documents or internet access will not be affected.

Will Office 2010 run on Windows 7?

Yes. Office 2010 will run on Windows 7.

I need help with Windows 7 software. Who should I call?

Yours truly, the Office of Technology Management. Contact the OTM Help Desk for support. We are here to assist you through this upgrade.
