Virtual Desktop is a comprehensive solution that we use to provision standardized client PC environments inside secure, centrally managed virtual machines. Each Virtual Desktop contains a complete client PC---including the operating system and all classroom applications. These Virtual Desktops run on the physical computer installed in the classroom/lab.

Virtual Desktop lets us run multiple virtual computers on a single physical desktop, sharing the resources of that single computer across multiple environments. Different virtual machines can run multiple operating systems such as Windows or Linux with applications on the same physical computer. Whatever is done inside of a virtual machine does not affect the physical computer operating system, thereby maintaining unique environments for each class, and allowing students and faculty to experiment with applications without affecting other classes.
