IE 9 Browser Upgrade
Dear SBS faculty and staff,
Microsoft is planning to offer an upgrade for the new Internet Explorer 9 (IE9) browser beginning Monday, April 18.
Starting then, HOME USERS of Windows Vista and Windows 7 will begin to get automatic upgrade notification. Windows XP users will not see the IE9 upgrade offer.
Please note that our office strongly recommends that you do not yet upgrade to Internet Explorer 9 at home, if you use the computer to access Suffolk University-provided technology services such as Remote Access, Blackboard, Panopto Coursecast or more. Some of these services have not been fully tested on the new browser and may cause issues. Our office unfortunately will not be able to support IE 9 until further testing has been completed.
Microsoft has pointed out that when the IE9 upgrade offer reaches user computers, it lets them install, decline or delay the new browser. We recommend that you either decline or delay the upgrade. You will still be able to upgrade at a later date if you choose not to now.
However, this being your personal, home computer you may choose the best option that works for you. SBS office and classroom computers are not affected by this automatic upgrade offer from Microsoft.
