9.2.2    Bloodborne Pathogen Spill

A bloodborne pathogen (BBP) spill is: blood, any bodily fluid, or potentially infectious material that would create a concern for public health.

  • Employees who are involved in an exposure incident to BBP should report it immediately to SUPD by calling (617) 573-8111.  A report will be filed.  First Aid will be provided.
  • Anyone involved in a BBP exposure should wash any BBP material off of the body and clean area with soap and water.
  • Anyone involved in a BBP exposure should seek medical treatment if the exposure is a concern for their well being.
  • Students who are involved in an exposure incident should report immediately to Health Services.
