Problem: Recording with the Cyberlink Webcam Splitter (aka YouCam) in the Panopto recorder causes data loss

The video preview works, but because it is a virtual device, the captured files are not usable. See below for an example.

Who's affected: Any user recording with this device in the Panopto recorder.

Status: In Panopto's next recorder update, they will be blacklisting this device so that it will not be selectable from the recorder application. Any additional information regarding this issue can be found in this post on the Panopto Support site.

Recommendation: Until then, content creators are requested to not use this device, or uninstall the application entirely from all recording computers.

 

Problem: Firefox isn't displaying embedded content

Who's affected? Anyone using Firefox version 23.0+

How do I resolve/workaround this? Mozilla has begun including their Mixed Content Blocker in Firefox 23. Once you navigate to a page that may have blocked content, you will notice a shield on left edge of your browsers address bar. Clicking this shield presents you with the following message:

 You will see the option "Keep Blocking" in the lower right corner of the message. By clicking the option, you can choose to "Disable Protection on This Page". Making this setting change will allow the content to display as it did previously

 

Problem: Blackboard - Panopto Building Block Blank Page

We are currently on the latest 4.5 version of Panopto. No known or reported issues at this time.

 

If you have a Course in Blackboard 9.1, and after clicking "Configure" within the Panopto Focus Content building block instance, the page fails to fully load.

Who's affected? Customers running Blackboard 9.1 Service Pack 8 and higher with custom Course themes

Status: After working with Blackboard, we discovered that it's related to how they are trying to load our breadbrumb bar within the configure page. Please contact otm@suffolk.eduif you come across this issue.

Recommendation: Contact otm@suffolk.edu for a workaround solution to this issue.

Problem: Mac recorder quits unexpectedly

If you come across an issue where you receive a "Panopto recorder quit unexpectedly" error after trying to record with the Panopto Mac recorder, please notify us.

Who's affected? Users running Panopto on Apple Mac computers.

Status: An upgrade to the Panopto server resolved this issue, but we are not on the latest version of Panopto.
