The upgrade steps are the same as everyone else. However, on the day of the upgrade please make sure you connect your laptop Please complete the 2013 Windows Upgrade Instructions while connected to the university network via the blue ethernet cable. Once connected, follow the Office 2010 Upgrade Steps.
I have a University issued laptop, but I won’t be on campus during my scheduled upgrade slot. What do I need to do?
The upgrade system is setup to detect if your laptop has been upgraded. The next time you are on campus and connected to the network, the upgrade will automatically run after you login. The process should take about 30 minutes. Do not connect via wireless. Once you confirm you've completed the steps, we will provide further details.
Will the upgrade disrupt my work?
NoYes. The Office 2010 Windows upgrade requires 15-20 minutes a few hours to complete when you start up your office computer on the day of the upgrade. It only upgrades your version of Office from 2007 to 2010. Services such as Email, Blackboard, My Documents or internet access will not be affected.
How different is Office 2010 from the older version?
There are some minor changes. Please check the Office 2007 vs Office 2010 page for details. If you are on campus, we will coordinate with you personally to minimize disruption.

Yes. Office 2010 will run on Windows XP with Service Pack 3 and newer versions of Windows7.
Can I open previous versions of Office files in Office 2010?
Yes. Files created in older versions of Office can be opened in Office 2010
Can I open Office 2010 files using previous versions of Office?
Yes, Office 2010 files can be opened with Office 2007. If you have Office 2003, XP or 2000 then you will need to download the free Compatibility Pack. This pack is already installed on all SBS computers.
After the upgrade, the Office shortcuts I had on the desktop do not work. What happened?
