ITS is pleased to announce that as a result of recent enhancements to the information technology infrastructure, we have made the following improvements to the email system: - The Exchange email system now offers each user two (2) gigabytes of storage space for each user’s email. This is an increase of 100%.
- The email system now features a tool which will automatically manage the clean-up of your Deleted mail folder. This will prevent large quantities of unwanted (deleted) mail from collecting in this folder and reducing the available storage space in your mailbox.
- All mailboxes are now active on the new Storage Area Network (SAN), which is even faster and more robust than the previous system.
Here are the details: 2 Gigabytes of Storage! You have asked for it and we are happy to say that we are able to provide a larger Exchange mailbox. All users now have access to 100% more space than the previous mailbox of 1 gigabyte. This will allow all users to better manage their email correspondence and will serve to encourage even more use of electronic communications, which will reduce the use of paper products even further. Practicing good management of your electronic correspondence is still important, however. In order to responsibly use your space, you should save large documents transmitted through email to your personal network storage drive and delete the email from your account. Deleted Email should be Deleted! Many users are unaware that when a message is deleted from their inbox it is actually moved to a “Deleted” folder. Since most users are unaware of this folder, the folder often accumulates huge amounts of email and as a result, your mailbox quota is exceeded. The new Clean-up procedure will automatically remove emails from your Deleted Folder that are older than 30 days. This will prevent large quantities of unwanted (deleted) mail from collecting in this folder and reducing the available storage space in your mailbox. This process will start on July 9th.
